Chapter 1: Analyzing World Politics: Levels of Analysis and Constraint

This chapter serves to introduce the different levels of analysis by describing and analyzing three different foreign policy decisions. The first of these has to do with the end of the cold war in the late 1980s, the second with the decision to drop the atomic bomb, and the third deals with the economic problems faced by Brazil in the 1980s and 1990s.
