The Structure of Physical Chemistry is an introduction to the entire course.
It serves two purposes. One is to introduce the basic concepts that are used
throughout the text, such as amounts and concentrations. The second is to
present some of the fundamental ideas of quantum theory and thermodynamics to facilitate
the use of the text in different sequences (such as quantum first or thermodynamics
first). By reading this introduction, students will see the entire text in
perspective and will understand how the material they are studying fits into a
global picture.
