- Peter Atkins, is a professor of chemistry at Oxford College, a fellow of Lincoln College, and the author of more than thirty books for students and a general audience. His Physical Chemistry broke new ground by stressing understanding over memorization. Now in its seventh edition, it remains the leading text in its field.
- New co-author--Julio de Paula is a professor of chemistry at Haverford College where he teaches general chemistry, physical chemistry, and biophysical chemistry and conducts research in photochemistry and photobiology. He was awarded a Henry Dreyfus teacher-scholar award in 1998.
